Welcome to Room 263!

Textbooks: Students will be issued a series of books throughout the year instead of one large textbook. Additionally, students will create their own 'math encyclopedia' containing formulas, vocabulary and problem solving hints throughout the year. Topics covered in eighth grade include:
Linear expressions and equations, coordinate graphing, Pythagorean Theorem.
Homework: After the first week or so of school, students will have a math assignment 3-4 nights a week. On Fridays, they are given the opportunity to complete their work in class to avoid having ‘weekend’ homework. Late assignments are accepted, although daily practice of skills and prompt completion of assignments is essential to mastering the topics taught. As mathematics is a subject where skills build upon each other, staying caught up is a must!
Suggested Supplies:
· Pencil, pencil, pencil! No assignments should be completed in pen, marker, etc.
· I have calculators for classroom use. (These may be checked out for use at home if necessary, however, access to a calculator at home would be helpful.)
Once again, I would like to welcome you and your student to my class. I look forward to working with you to help your student succeed!
